Our Story
Walking down the historic High Street of Leighton Buzzard in 2001 I saw a pretty shop which had been unoccupied for many years. My brain started whirring and resulted in me opening Room No.9 that year, the name chosen by my 10 year old son.
I stocked the shop with an eclectic mix of products and set up a couple of tables for coffee and cake. One day a customer asked when I was going to start offering lunches... “tomorrow” I said! And so the café was born.
After 7 years a larger nearby shop came up for sale and we plunged in and bought it. It was a stationery and art shop and over the course of the next two years I ran the shops in tandem until we amalgamated them, putting the café upstairs and the shop downstairs.

I’ve always loved well designed and individual items and have been gift wrapping in brown paper and velvet ribbon long before it became fashionable. I love to feed people and the synergy between the shop and café works really well.
Room No.9 continues to evolve, keeping abreast with trends and fashion.
